The Tybee Wedding Chapel was once a prop for the Nicholas Sparks movie, The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear. It was the church that caught fire in the movie. I can’t recommend the movie for its actors, or storyline. However, there are some great scenes of Tybee in it and even a few locals that you might recognize when you visit here. It is a fun bit of trivia to share when we are talking with guests at the Tybee Wedding Chapel while we photograph weddings there. The building had been moved from one end of the island to the other by a local couple that purchased the facade of a church. They had a vision and did not stop till it was finished. Transformed into a fully functioning second level chapel with a gorgeous double curved staircase. It has become the perfect fairytale wedding location for the most distinguished brides.
At the Tybee Wedding Chapel, there are separate rooms where you can have your ceremony upstairs, cocktail hour at the downstairs bar and lounge area, and make your grand entrance into the Ball Room. Prior to the wedding you and your bridesmaids can get dressed in the bridal suite, while the guys are just on the other side of the building in the groom’s quarters. This adds to your stree-free wedding day as everyone is already in one location with no traffic woes.
